Now that Christmas has been paid for, it’s time to think about spending your money on something even more expensive; your holidays! Thankfully, the travel industry is doing all it can to help you. (Spend your money that is).
One major exhibition has already taken place (the Adventure Travel Show) but there are a whole lot more coming up. These shows are great days out as not only do they give you an opportunity to talk face to face with tour ops or even representatives from the destinations themselves, but they also give you a chance to eat free food, listen to music and even attend lectures.
Here’s our guide to what’s coming up.
Destinations Holiday & Travel Show
The first show on the horizon is the Destinations Holiday and Travel Show which takes place at Olympia London from the 2nd to 5th February. The show is attended by hundreds of independent tour operators, tourist boards, media and consumers and is the UK’s biggest and longest running travel show. As well as over dozens (hundreds?) of exhibitors, other attractions include the Stanfords Travel Writers Festival, street food stalls and travel photography masterclasses.
London Cruise Show
Also held at Olympia London, this time from 18th to 19th February, this is the cruise industry’s pre-eminent event (if you ignore Seatrade Cruise Global but that takes place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida). The exhibition’s strapline is ‘get ready to be inspired’ and its certainly true that there is a huge amount of inspirational information on show here.
Outdoor Adventure & Camping Show
Billed as the UK’s largest outdoor show (but held indoors), The Outdoor Adventure and Camping Show is held at Excel in London from the 16th to 19th February. Visitors attending this show are usually outdoor enthusiasts and and many buy the latest products, gear and equipment at the show (usually on the last day when the exhibitors sell it off more cheaply).
Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show 2017
The clue is in the title but this highly popular exhibition takes place from 21st – 26th February at the NEC, Birmingham. Its organisers claim that ‘from tents to the most modern motorhomes, luxurious touring caravans to compact campervans and spacious lodges, we’ve got plenty of holiday ideas to inspire your next holiday, break or leisure pursuit’.
